in Beledweyene, Somalia

On behalf of the United States government, I wish to convey my condolences to you and your government regarding the October 25 attack on Djiboutian Armed Forces in Beledweyne, Somalia. We condemn this attack in the strongest possible terms. It was with great sadness that I learned of the deaths and injury of some of your soldiers as a result. The United States is deeply grateful for their service to combat the scourge of terrorism and to bring peace and stability to the people of Somalia and to the region. Our thoughts are with you and the soldiers’ families during this difficult time.

Djibouti is critical to our international efforts to establish peace and security in Somalia under challenging circumstances. The United States values its partnership with AMISOM and will continue to strongly support Djibouti’s efforts to advance regional peace and security.

Sincerely,
